In the wake of the recent Ameripolitan Awards, at which Flaco Jiménez and Augie Meyers were honored with the Founders Of The Sound Award, this album truly carries the torch of the classic Texas/Mexican sounds into the new age with a warm, easy swell of expertly played accordion laced throughout the tracks, paired with beautiful and poignant lyricism.

A clean and brilliantly crafted blend of Tex-Mex, wonderful flowing Honky Tonk, and Acoustic Folk Balladeerism that the state has long been known for- that this album and these performers display in spades.

It immediately stands out in writing, production, and presentation as it excellently highlights the regional history of Laredo’s rich sound, stretching to the Hill Country, and Texas’ vast musical landscape in general. All backed by a handful of top-tier instrumentalists- with vocal support provided by the fantastic Caroline Sears.

It’s an album that makes you proud of Texas musicians.

An easy contender for Best Of 2024 lists further down the line.

And if all that sounds too much like blurby nonsense, I’ll just say that the album is absolutely incredible and needs to be added to the rotation of every DJ and playlist curator’s lineup.
