New Braunfels is one of those rare places that must have something special in the water. The city, founded by German immigrants in 1845, has been a tourist destination for its rich history, cultural festivals, and its incredible ability to attract songwriters.
Andi Holleman, a rising star that’s been making her mark at Greune Hall, one of the most iconic traditional dance halls in the Southwest, chose this picturesque landscape for her debut music video “Dallas Tonight.”
The video was filmed outside of Fischer Studios, and the track was produced by Tom Gillam at Greune Records.
“It was only supposed to be like a minute and a half of content,” Holleman said of her surprise when the full video was sent over. It was originally designed as a way to curate professional shots for her social media outreach. “It was really nice that they did that. It helps create excitement around a single that I worked really hard to record.”
We see Holleman rocking out on the tailgate of a vintage truck in style with a pearl snap shirt and bolo tie. The side mirror shots and aerial footage really put you in the perfect space to dream about the heartache and freedom found in the lyrics.
“I’ve never done anything like that before, it was so fun!” Holleman said. “Honestly, I was a little nervous.”
On the Road to North Dakota
“When I wrote it, I knew it was a very special song, so it’s just nice to see the development of it over the last year and how far the song has actually come,” Holleman said. She wrote the song at a pivotal moment in her life when she moved to North Dakota. “It was the only song I’ve ever written that I jumped up and down for joy after I was done writing it.”
While Holleman talks about “leaving it all behind” for her inspiration in “Dallas Tonight,” we’re sure glad she came back to make her mark in the Texas music scene. Her debut video really shows off the dynamic in her music between the heart wrenching stories that cut deep, and immense hope and freedom that comes from following your dreams.
