“Even in the hard times in the beginning I think I recognized that this is a pretty special thing that I get to do with my life,” Pope said, “so it’s my journey from when I was kid through to this moment.”

“I realized it was very easy for me to sit down and write a country song because that seemed to be a great vehicle,” Devereaux said. “My songwriter voice seems to be stripping to very essential elements.”

“I like classic phrases like that for titles,” Marshall said. “I just like little slice of life momentary themes.”

“In essence I was trying to make it a field recording like the old folk recordings and blues recordings,” Scott said, “like you just captured somebody doing something on their front porch or in a jail cell, or in this case an abandoned, derelict country-catholic church from a hundred years ago.”

“We’ve been so lucky we don’t need to perform all the time, we don’t have to make it our bread and butter, so we get to really focus on getting out into that music community.”

“By the time we got in to record them I was just ready to throw down on ‘em,” Kamel said. “It was pretty easy in that regard because I’ve surrounded myself with some really good musicians.”
